The Salina Youth Symphony Program offers the opportunity for area youth to participate in professionally directed youth orchestras composed of students dedicated to fine music making. Members are dedicated to rehearsing most Saturday mornings throughout the school year to prepare for two formal concerts at the Stiefel Theatre. The spring semester performance will be held April 15.
The Youth Symphony Program involves approximately 160 students in the following three orchestras:
- Youth Symphony—advanced full orchestra conducted by Ken Hakoda
- Junior Youth Symphony—intermediate full orchestra conducted by Henry Littich
- Preparatory Youth Orchestra—beginning string ensemble conducted by Lindsay Modin
SALINA YOUTH SYMPHONY CONCERTO COMPETITION
Salina Youth Symphony juniors and seniors are invited to compete in the Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, to be held Sunday, March 4, at p.m. at Sams Chapel, Kansas Wesleyan Univesity. The application deadline is Feb. 24.
