My father playing polkas and waltzes on his button accordion in his Czech Trio.

Best part of being a Salina Symphony musician:
Being able to make beautiful music with my friends and have fun doing it!

Most memorable performance with the Salina Symphony:
I do remember playing the second bassoon part on Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony – a once in a lifetime accomplishment and probably never to be repeated.

Favorite composers:
Beethoven, my hero.

What song best describes you when you first wake up in the morning?
“Goin’ in Circles” (which is what I do most days) or “I’ve Got the Music in Me”

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
Classical and Romantic as well as Golden Oldies.

How do you spend your free time?
What free time?  J I used to read a lot (and will again – some day when I finally retire) but for now I start my days with the crossword, Cryptoquip and Sudoku in the daily paper.  I know it’ll be a good day if I can get all three done!

Whom do you admire?
Eric Stein – if it weren’t for his influence, teaching and friendship, my life would not be filled with music today.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Being able to go to work every day with a smile on my face.  And of course, my children, who just shake their head when I tell them I’m retired!
