Job Title:

Earliest musical memory:
My earliest musical memory was as a child listening to my father (who was a music teacher) play the children’s song ‘The Fox’ on the old upright piano in my parents room.  My Dad would make the song as silly and fun.  We would hear him working out marching band arrangements all hours of the day and night. One of my most memorable overall music memories was one summer being outside at Meadowbrook Music Festival listening to the Detroit Symphony playing Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony as a storm was building.  What an amazing experience and feeling for a young teen!

Best part of being a Salina Symphony musician:
The best part of being a Salina Symphony musician is the experience to come together with wonderful musicians from near and far to create amazing music.  No matter how many years we’ve played there is always something new to learn.  Ken is a wonderful conductor and has a great vision for what we can all achieve.

Most memorable performance with the Salina Symphony:
There are so many memorable concerts with the Symphony but one of my favorites was with Acoustic Eidolon.  All the music for that concert was wonderful and playing with Joe and Hannah was a real blessing.  They were gracious people as well as very talented.

Favorite composers:
Picking a favorite composer is difficult because there are so many but if I had to pick one it would be Bach.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
Oh, a wide range from classical, bluegrass, acoustic guitar, praise music, Bela Fleck, IZ, DC Talk, Neil Young, Selah and The Weepies.  I love listening to all music, to relax maybe some Andy McKee or Acoustic Eidolon.  I’m always listening to what we are currently working on for the next concert.

What song best describes you in the morning?
I tend to have the most energy in the mornings, how about Geraldine Latty singing ‘Oh Happy Day’ or Rich Mullins ‘Creed’! Power up and get ready for the day!!

How do you spend your free time?
I enjoy reading and Bible study.  I like to get together with friends for a monthly music jam for a fun night of making music.

Whom do you admire?
Who I admire is my husband.  He is so loving, patient and kind.  I want to be just like him when I grow up!

What is your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment would have to be anytime I have an opportunity to help someone. That can be teaching, encouraging, helping, pray for, fill a need and sometimes that’s just loving someone.
