Dianna Pedersen
Viola

Has played with the Salina Symphony since:
1986 (except for a few years I took off when I had my children)

Hometown: Salina
Current City: Rural Solomon

Education:
Associates Degree in Administrative Secretarial Sciences, Brown Mackie College

Job Title:
Receptionist, Abilene Animal Hospital

Earliest musical memory:
I remember Mrs. Susan Higbee coming into our grade school class and showing us all of the cool instruments we could choose to play.

Best part of being a Salina Symphony musician:
The opportunities we have to play with so many different artists and the great variety of music we play

Most memorable performance with the Salina Symphony:
My very first concert, no one told me we needed to wear concert black, so I showed up in mint green. I was about 19 at the time, so I was devastated! My mom came to the rescue and brought me some appropriate attire right before we went on stage. I also thought it was really cool to play with Roy Clark when he was here several years ago.

Favorite composer:
I love Vivaldi!

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
I listen to music by some of the artists we’ve hosted, including Tracy Silverman and Less Lankhorst, but I also like current hits (which I have to listen to with my daughters!).

How do you spend your free time?
Rubber stamping, scrapbooking or snuggled up with a good book and my cats.

Whom do you admire?
I admire Eric Stein for the wonderful programs he started in Salina and for being so important in getting me involved with the Symphony.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Raising two beautiful and talented daughters
